The Chinese Fire Bellied Toad!!!!

Yes, I had a moment of weakness tonight. The boys & I plus my sister went out to eat. Afterwards, I wanted to go look in the pet store. Who would have thought that I would come out with an aquarium & 3 frogs? We really didn't know much. We asked the little clerk & were assured that these "fire bellied toads" were easy to keep & great for "beginners." Okay. Another lesson well learned. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY before making any decisions that could possibly change your life. These things can live for 15-20 YEARS!!!!!! Can you believe it? They are called fire bellied because of their red tummies. Those produce POISON. The internet said it's harmless to humans as long as we wash our hands after handling. YEAH RIGHT. As if I am going to touch them! This was all Elijah's doing, so he has to feed them their treat of live crickets - NOT ME!!!! I was shocked to read that they came from China, how appropriate. They are really cute. I guess for now I'm glad they are here. At least I got my aquarium with the water filter that I've been wanting to get for Noah. (Doctors say that the moving water sound can be very calming & theraputic.) The aquarium didn't come with a lightbulb & it was too late to go out and get one once this was discovered. Of course they are supposed to live in a nice cozy 75 degrees. Let's just pray they live through the night. I'll let you know how it goes. (sigh!)
