Is that a Korean flag? And is that Korean flag in front of the Chinese flag? Well, yes it is.
You might ask why after 2 years of being immersed into Chinese culture, "Why would I be posting things about Korea?" Well.... let me tell you, it's a story that only God could ordain. Isn't He good? Wednesday morning, I received an email from a fellow adoptive parent. She was letting me know about a waiting child in Korea (with another agency) that could possibly have some of the same medical issues that we deal with Noah. So, just to put my mind at ease (I never thought it would be possible) I emailed our social worker some questions about changing countries. I checked my messages before we were leaving to pick up Noah from school - nothing. Then my cell phone rings. I didn't recognize the #. It wasn't the agencies number or the cell that she normally uses. I almost didn't answer it. (I don't like answering if I don't know who it is. Isn't that what voice mail is for?) But it was our social worker. I immediately started laughing telling her not to worry, I was just thinking. She listens to me rant & rave for a few minutes & finally she got me to be quiet long enough to hear her out. She asked would we be interested in Korea if she could provide me a file TODAY of a little girl. Would we??? Did she really have to ask??? But, wait, do we qualify for Korea? Our papers have been in China for over 19 months. Questions, Questions, Questions. Well, long story sort of short... we opened up a file at about 3:45 of the most beautiful Korean baby I have ever seen. She has the best pinching cheeks you could dream up! We are praying over her file. Our Dr. is looking over her file. If he doesn't object, we are going to apply for her. We should know more hopefully next week. What a long weekend this is going to be.
We are just praying for clear minds & God's perfect will to be done. Yes, I am scared, excited, nervous, shocked, amazed, & in awe that this is even happening. I spoke with a friend last night who has a precious & adorable Korean princess. She has given me a lot of peace. The entire system seems incredible. There are many blessings being bestowed on those precious little ones. If we are so blessed, Hannah Grace will have some pieces of the puzzle of her past, where as Chinese children unfortunately can't ever obtain. There is so much to explain & learn about. I need to go sign up for my crash course in Korean 101. Keep us in your prayers. I don't know what's going to happen with all of this, but I do know that God is going to teach us something through all of it. Now, I'm ready to figure out what it is. -Charity

of course the Howells are excited about the possiblity of another Korean princess in Jackson :) but we too know Gods hand is mighty and he already knows Hannah Grace...the journey to her is like a windy road with lots of "are we there yets" from the back seat! We love you and can't wait to see that picture even it it means a face for us to pray into a home should it not be yours! I love that you are treasuring a baby that "could" be yours but still needs your love and prayer to get her home! You guys are amazing and God knows that you can handle the twists and turns. Adoption, after all is full of them as we both know!
