I wish I could show you the pics that go along with this post. It really is remarkable. (For an even more dramatic post I should have announced this on April Fool's Day but we weren't ready for the reveal quite yet.)
THEY SHAVED EBABY'S HEAD.
Yes, you read that right. She is bald, SLICK & SHINY bald. At first I was pretty upset. I know it will grow back. I think it was just another event that I had to miss out on, even if it was an event that I didn't necessarily agree with. We still have no certain answers as to why. But I guess now it really doesn't matter. It's done & it will grow back. So, in good southern fashion I have gone shopping & bought her some really cute headbands. ;0)
During all of the updates from families that are in ET & my social worker who happens to be there, I found out at first she had a mohawk. Once I saw that - I have to admit I am now very thankful that they shaved her head completely. I must agree with everyone - she is beautiful with or without hair. Thanks to an amazing family who was there, I have a video of her famous "first shave", something that I don't have with any of the other 4. I only take the camera to that fabulous event. So even though it started out to be a not so good thing, I am thanful that I have that for her when she gets older. She is a real trooper. She sat still & never shed one tear while Sister used a straight razor to remove those beautiful curls. So there you have it.
HG is totally into Tangled right now. That was her first movie experience & she loved it. Her goal since she came home has been to let her hair grow long (she'll point to her ankle when you ask how long.) Now, she wants hair like Repunzel - YIKES. I hope we soon grow out of that. I want to help encourage my children's dreams, but there comes a point when I will have to draw the line. !!!! LOL
BTW..
We leave in 11 days........

WOW! With a straight razor, I would have been terrified! Hope you guys have a great trip. Send me some pics of that cute baby when/if you can.
Our daughter (4 or 5 at the time) talks about crying when they shaved her braids off at the orphanage...it was terribly traumatic. But, she had terrible ringworm on her scalp and lots of little bugs she'd been living with for quite some time, so it was the best thing to do to begin to treat all of that. She came home with a perfectly clean scalp and her hair has grown so quickly! :)
