Mama Knows Best

I will start with this disclaimer - it was a complete accident! But I did tell the child in question that I could do this by myself. I really didn't need any help tonight peeling the potatoes. Does anyone listen to the mother? Nope. And of course because my child thinks they can do anything they put their mind to - an accident is the farthest thing from their mind.
Who, might you ask? Well, let's just put it this way: When we were deciding if we were going to have to make a run to the emergency care facility we realized this is yet another Morris first. Yep, the daughter. She took my NEW (yes, make sure you catch that - NEW as in VERY sharp) peeler & started hacking away at that poor potato. I convinced her to only take off the skin, not all that white stuff that I wanted to put into the pot. I turned to grab another potato when it happened. She whacked off the end tip of her little ring finger. We ran cold water over it until I could get some clean towels. We raised her little hand & put pressure on it for over 5 minutes, took off the towel, only to see it still bleeding. We called Dad to let him know we might be taking an unexpected trip tonight then got it dressed with medicine. Immediately it soaked 2 bandaids (yuck - not good) But since we got the 5 bandaid thing going on, it apparently has stopped. We will undress it tonight to see how bad it really is. Hopefully keeping the pressure to it will allow it to clot enough on it's own. The way it is shaped there will be no stitches, staples, or glue for this. We just have to watch & wait for it to heal.
Hopefully we didn't endure this without learning something. And hopefully she'll understand why I have all those warnings & rules. It's just so hard to learn those lessons sometimes.
