What Am I Learning?

Do you ever sit around & actually stop to think about the world that is swirling around your head? Has it ever hit you that this isn't about you? Well, that is what I am learning. (I know, I'm a little slow at times.) I am guessing by now that everyone has figured out that our heart is for the orphans. But why is that? No, we can't save them all. Most of the children on this planet can't be adopted. So, why do we do all this? We've all heard the phrase about not saving the world but you save the world for one, but really why do we do all this?

And then I look at the little spitfire that is currently yelling at her older brothers. And I realize, even though how much I love her, it wasn't for her or for me. It wasn't to "save" her from the orphanage. It isn't about that sweet little thing waiting for us in Africa either. It's about an almighty God. He loves us - ALL OF US - so much. He wants us all to love Him. He uses our little example of adoption to show the world of HIS AMAZING ADOPTION plan that He'd like to share with everyone.

Here's THE green beans from Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The poor things were totally forgotten when we got the call about E-baby. And I've been thinking - that's what we all look like without Him: burnt, dried up, yucky, worthless, disgusting, horrible tasting, & ruined.

I am just so thankful today that He is changing me (and yes, sometimes the process is painful & definitely not pleasant). But oh, it is so worth it. He is changing me to make me more like Him. For that I want to praise His Holy Name.
I have had some conversations lately about "christians." Why do we spend so much time dealing with our differences, our preferences, our desires, our worries, our excitements, Our, our, our.... Why can't we just spend our time talking about HIM? I think He's worth it.
Just some of the many thoughts running through my big head lately..... Oh, look out.... there's more to come. Yes, it's a process.
